If I enter an event in Calendar on the HTC & sync with the p.c. the p.c. is not updated but the HTC retains the entry. I can enter names and calendar events on the p.c. and all works ok. Any ideas ?

Outlook. I don't like it much but it seems to be the default calendar.

Since your not a big Outlook fan, there are tons of free applications which can help you sync your calender...

Have you checked out the free m:IQ application? If you download it you can input events from your PC and have them automatically load on your phone! You never even have to connect your phone to your computer... It also syncs all your contacts, texts, and photos in the same way, if you want them to.

Hope that serves as a good solution and makes it easy to work your calender!

Don't bother with HTC Sync to sycn Calendar and Outlook. Download the free Google Calendar Sync - it works fine with Outlook/Android.
