Oops, for some reason, I thought I was reading a reply to my own post about pc connection problems and replied to that. Sorry.

However, I do now have my email working fully. Here's what I did.

I installed Maildroid and put my settings etc in that app and it worked. I'm not the sort of person to give up trying if something doesn't work as it should so I decided to also set up the existing mail app again.

Lo and behold, it worked a treat so I uninstalled Maildroid. Still working like a dream two days later.

Whether the Maildroid app had anything to do with it or whether it was just coincidence, I have no idea but might be worth a try?

Ok, not sure if anyone is still interested in this topic but I have been doing some research and experimenting.

After much experimenting with different settings etc but to no avail,I decided to read as much as I could on various message boards as this is a known issue.

The answer is: You have to manually change your smtp server settings according to your current connection. For example, I'm on t-mobile so if I am using their data connection, my smtp has to be set to smtp.t-email.co.uk. When I am at home and connected to my wifi , I have to change my smtp back to smtp.talktalk.net.

It's a real pain in the neck but it does seem to be the only solution at this time. I'm wondering if there is a developer out there somewhere who might create an app that automatically changes the smtp settings according to the current connection type.

From what I understand of this, even if you are connected to a wifi hotspot, you still can't use your internet providers smtp,it has to be the smtp of the wifi you are connected too. Such a pain.

It is possible that people with different internet providers may be able to use their own providers settings and not have to change them at all but for those on talktalk at least, the only option is to manually keep changing the smtp server.

Hope this makes sense and if I should be able to find out more, I will let you know.
