Manually Updating Unlocked HTC Hero (GSM) to Android 2.1

Hi folks,

I have an unlocked GSM HTC Hero that I would like to upgrade to the 2.1 version of Android. I can't find any info out there on how to do this - is this even possible?

Here are my specs on the os
Firmware: 1.5
Kernel: 2.6.27-0078c992
Build#: 2.73.661.46
Software Version: 1.0.0.A62

Any help would be much appreciated!
