Hello everyone, first time post here, dont flame me :P

I recently grabbed a Desire 2 weeks ago and i am so impressed,
only to find out about Froyo....well, im sure your all well more aware than i am searching on the internet for the answer that goes a wee bit deeper in to the already past "beginning of Q3" is quite similar to banging your head against a brick wall...quite properly illustrated here .....so i come to you all, can anyone tell me or at least point me in the right direction (a previous thread i may have missed) that could possibly give me a bit of hope to putting my mind at ease, someone here told me a week ago 100% july 23rd from the inside of HTC....but here we are and no upd....wait....yeah no update

im sure many have asked this before, but im wondering....does anyone have any credible accurate information? google sure does not for the moment....

There isn't any credible information as far as I know, HTC seem to always be slack with this sort of thing. Hopefully it won't be too long... of course it all depends on your carrier too.

Manufacturers change things all the time. the Droid was supposed to have it now too and nothing. I actually got into rooting my phone so I could have Froyo and some of the unlocked features earlier such as wireless tether and more.

If you are comfortable with it I would recommend looking into rooting your device to get the most you can with it. Just be careful cause there are risks.

Well....my provider is China Unicom but this phone hasnt been released on the mainland yet i had to import it from Taiwan. it has a small orange box on the back though....i assumed that all updates were done via internet, what does my carrier have to do with it?

You carrier takes the update releases and tweaks them how they want such as adding or removing parts.

With rooting there is the risk of bricking your phone if you do not follow the directions carefully. I did it for my Droid and everything went smoothly. One key this is make sure your device is fully charged.

I have not done the Desire however, if you look over at XDA Developers and search google I believe there is a easy to follow guide for it.

The Orange UK update should be available by 5pm today. Dave or Brian, Ishmael possibly (it was a bad line), was very specific about it when I spoke to him yesterday.

I'd love to have the cash to go perchase another Desire I wouldn't hesitate rooting this one with a nice custom rom then I could happily have a standard one for work and a custom one for myself http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=757725 hehe.

if you are rooting, you have to try to brick the phone cos it won't happen if you know how to back up.. ClockWorkMod- go to recovery and back up using nandroid And Titanium BackUp app free from the market, ust back up your ROM, so if something goes wrong just bring it back
