So, I ve got ther Desire, the only reason why I got this over the Nexus One is because of thew HTC Sense UI.

Once Froyo 2.2 is available on the Desire, then will it have Sense UI or will it have the UI that you see on youtube videos? (I mean the buttons the are in the same places as the ones on Sense UI, but with the little dots on bottom right and left of the screen to show on which Home Screen Page you are on)

Just curious, By the way, if Sense UI will not be on it, I will not update my amazing Desire

Thanks!

HTC have announced that they'll release a Froyo update for the Desire, so it'll come with Sense. If you update yourself, then it'll just be standard 2.2 interface.

Ohh, so i'll just wait for that and by saying "updating yourself", do you mean rooting the device and flashing it with a 2.2 nexus one firmware?

Thanks!

The Orange UK update 2.2 should be available by around 5pm this afternoon. I have no idea how quick other operators are going to be with their restrictions.

Thanks! I got an update at about 2 pm today... you'd expect it to be Froyo, well, its not! Got a 2.1 build... which gave me nothing but a vodafone 360 app, what is the point of that, just add it on to 2.2 and then send out the update!

Anyone else got this?!

I just went to Settings -> About Phone -> System software updates

Turns out, if you're on Orange, but haven't got a branded phone (you bought through a third party) then you can just do that instead.

I'm new to Android and got an unlocked HTC Desire delivered yesterday from Amazon. It has the SIM in from my old Vodafone handset and is working fine for daily tasks. Of course I want to upgrade and get the benefits of FroYo but I'm a little confused by conflicting things that I've read ... I think because nothing I've found has been specific enough.

First thing is I'm a UK resident and all the announcements state FroYo is here. I've run my manual check for software updates on the device and it says that none are available. I've checked the firmware and it says that it is 2.1-update 1.

So why can't I get FroYo? My working theories are...
1. The releases is staggered to the unlocked phones by HTC and within a few days I might receive it.
2. Even though the phone is unlocked somehow there's a carrier dependency in there.
3. I'm missing something.

Oddly for me I'm hoping it's #3 as then I might be able to get my hands on the update a.s.a.p.

Can anyone clarify for me what I should expect and point me in the right direction?
