Orange UK told me that 2.2 would be available from around 5pm last Tuesday, I'm still waiting. I think its a case of empty promises and staff not knowing what their doing. I'm not surprised it hasn't arrived.

Froyo has screwed my phone.
Firstly, the OTA update failed at the last minute, with an error message that disappeared before I could read it.
Then I notice that running any Flash content in browsers caused an FC. This happened in both Dolphin HD and the standard browser.
I decided that rooting and a custom ROM might be an answer - then I found out that the Unrevoked root process doesn't work on Froyo.
So I had a failed install but the phone still thought it was on 2.2. But it wouldn't find Flash in the Marketplace so I couldn't replace it to try and get it working.
Eventually I did a Factory reset, and lost all my apps and some data. However, this did cure the Flash problem. I then spent a few hours reinstalling all my apps and setting up my home screens and preferences.
However, today I notice that Listen keeps asking for a Google account - I have one registered already. I can't remove the registered GMail account without doing another Factory reset and going through all the pain again.
In short, Froyo is a f**king waste of time and has been nothing but trouble. All I want to do now is reflash back to 2.1, then root it and use a custom ROM which I suspect will be signicantly more stable.
Be warned - DO NOT INSTALL FROYO - it's shite.

I had a vodafone Desire but when I noticed the update I went in search of a definitive yes or no to FroYo I'm glad I did as it was little more than a hboot lock and bloatwere update. Refusing to be lumbered with a bunch of crap branding apps and no way to root or flash I desided to debrand my device so I created a gold card and flashed HTC's official Desire 1.19 rom onto it to debrand I then went and downloaded there Desire FroYo release with the open radio kernal and lo and behold I now have a Desire with a 0.80 hboot running the gineric HTC Desire FroYo and NO sim lock w00t.
It works perfectly and rox my sox I can now add a few more apps gotta love a2sd
If you are a UK vodafone Desire owner and was unfortunate enough to install this poor and shabby (full of bugs) update I have bad news as the 0.83 hboot they installed will not allow you to flash and the dev's at xda have not managed to crack it yet.

I decided to update (as I thoughed that it was FroYo, insted I got 1.24.161.3... It was very ease to deband and root and install a custom rom, so yeah I have to correct you on that, It is possible to downgrade your hboot from 0.83 to 0.80...

adding custom ROM is flashing and rooting is hacking, de-branding is where you get rid of any of your carriers apps, get rid of start up animation to stock "hTc quietly brilliant" and letting flash the phone with a different stock ROM without having to root, via recovery
I did debrand before rootin.. http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Oth...-p/46252#M3190
then I decided to root as I then decided to flash the phone with NeoPhyTe 5.0 Custom ROM, which was much better the the stock htc ROM..
