Is there a way to manually download android patches to a private server and install on android phones from there?

This will be useful for update management and security.

Currently, the only obvious way is to just connect to the main update server using the Android device. This is a problem, as most of the time, you won't know what you are downloading and how it will change your system.

Not that I know of. Really the update method would be the same either way though, whether you move it to a private server or not it will still have the same effect on your device. The update servers are all encrypted so there really is nothing to worry about.
