This morning, my G1 informed me it had a system update ready to install, which apparently got downloaded overnight. The new version is:

Firmware: 1.5
Kernel: 2.6.27-00392-g8312baf
Build nr: CRB17

The new camcorder app is quite nice (although I haven't watched a video on a large screen to asses the quality) and the little tweaks to the UI give the whole OS a slightly more pleasant feel.
