During the recent “Nokia World” industry conference, Nokia’s Ukko Lappalainen told Reuters that the Linux platform could take centre stage on future high-end Nokia handsets - dismissing the future use of Google’s Android platform.

Whilst Linux’s role in the Smartphone industry is growing, thanks in part to the release of the Google Android platform, Lappalainen was keen to point out that Nokia will most likely stick to their own Linux development.

Nokia currently use Linux maemo in their internet tablets, with Symbian software powering their handsets.
