Samsung, the world’s second-largest cellphone*manufacturer, has announced their intention to make Android a key focus moving forward. *The company hopes to continue with the success of its Galaxy S line, which has already
shipped 1 million units in the US alone.
“We are Prioritizing our Android platform. Android is very open and flexible, and there is a consumer demand for it,” *said YH Lee, head of marketing at Samsung Mobile.
The company will also continue to expand upon its own Bada software, which powers lower-end smartphones which attempt to appeal to a broader consumer base. *However, Samsung will be cutting back on its Symbian production, stating that the consumer demand just is not there right now.
