The Samsung Galaxy Tab was revealed today at the IFA Conference in Berlin, as reported earlier. Afterwards Samsung held a Q&A with the media and revealed a couple of details worth discussing. The first being Gingerbread (Android 3.0) upgrade confirmation for the Galaxy Tab. This was probably expected by most but hearing the official confirmation will make it a little easier to pull the trigger on this device. Nobody likes buying equipment that is outdated or soon to be outdated (did you hear that Sony Ericsson?). The second juicy detail to emerge from the Q&A came from JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications. He stated that Samsung plans to have a much more diverse tablet lineup come next year, including tablets running Honeycomb (Android 3.5). They wouldn’t confirm whether the Tab would get a 3.5 upgrade, citing business relations with Google as the reason for withholding information, but knowing that Honeycomb tablets will be hitting the streets within a year is excellent news. Comment with your thoughts.
