PhoneFusion have today announced their upcoming Fusion Voicemail Plus application that will bring visual voicemail to the G1 handset.
This free Android application will allow G1 users to centralize all of their voicemail boxes and to visualize all of their voicemail messages direct from the handsets screen.
The service will also enable users to listen to their voicemails directly from the handset.

“Our Fusion Voicemail Plus application is tremendously popular with our existing customers who wanted iPhone-type functionality on their favorite devices,” said Louis Libin, chief executive officer, PhoneFusion. “With the launch of T-Mobile’s G1, the first Android-powered smartphone, people have been looking for an innovative visual voicemail app that runs on this breakthrough device. We believe Fusion Voicemail Plus fills this gap, giving the Android community a better way to stay connected when it matters most. We expect this application will quickly become one of the favorites on Android Market.”
|
The application is expected to be previewed at today’s Under the Radar: Mobility event, with an Android Market launch scheduled for the end of this year.

visual voicemail is awesome, but iif it's gonna be the same design used for the Blackberry it's gonna be pretty ugly.
Hopefully they'll give the UI design a nice little touch-up for the Android version.

Visual voicemail will be a nice addition considering that the iPhone has it, I hope its a completely revamped vvm though, something especially made for the android platform!

The visual voicemail is available on the Android Market right now.

Fusion Voicemail Plus brings visual voicemail to the G1! You do need to first sign up for a free account online (you can do it from your G1 browser) before using the application on your G1. Fusion Voicemail is a free service that lists your voicemail messages on your G1 screen and lets you play them when you want. You can also forward other voicemail systems (home, work, other mobile phones) to your G1 number and get those voicemails into a visual voicemail system too. - ZDNet.com

Is this an actual vvm app or is it like an online service that makes you use their greeting and you have to connect online to view the vms? Just wondering because when I had my iphone I signed up for a service called iMail or something like that, and it was terrible, my missed call would get fowarded to this service and I would get a text letting me know that I got a vm and a link to follow to "view" my vm online. It really sucked!!
