A Russian hardware manufacturer, Rover Computers, has introduced several new tablets*they are working on including some which will be running the Android OS. With how much I love my Android Phone tablets running the OS really catch my eye and is definitely something I would consider buying. As a college student and an avid reader Android tablets would work perfect for quick studying or catching up on my latest novel using an eReader or playing games and surfing the net on the large screen. Oh the possibilities.

Rover is developing*4 flavors from compact to fast and sleek. The Android model’s specs are:

  • RoverPad Go G50
    • 5-inch WVGA screen
    • Marvell PXA303 CPU
    • 128MB of RAM
    • 2GB storage
    • Android 1.5 OS
    • WiFi, GPS and 3G
    • microSD card slot
    • USB port
  • RoverPad Go G72
    • 7-inch WVGA Screen
    • Marvell PXA303 CPU
    • 128MB of RAM
    • 2GB storage
    • Android 1.6 OS
    • Bluetooth, Ethernet, and optional GPS
    • microSD card slot
    • USB port
  • RoverPad 3WG70
    • 7-inch WVGA Screen
    • RockChip’s 2808 CPU
    • 128MB of RAM
    • 2GB storage
    • Android 1.5 OS
    • microSD card slot
    • WiFI and USB
    • Webcam
  • RoverPad TegA W70
    • 7-inch capacitive touchscreen
    • Powered by nVidia’s Tegra chipset
    • 512MB RAM
    • 4GB storage
    • Android 2.1 OS
    • HDMI output
    • WiFi and 3G
    • Webcam
As a note I wanted to share that Engadget has released an update to the story that Rover Computers may be going bankrupt which means we will never see these bundles of goodies. I for one hope that they don’t but only time will tell. I would really like to see more Android based tablet on the market to compliment my phone while on the go. Would you buy one if they were readily available?
