There's been a lot of speculation recently as to when the first version of the Firefox Mobile browser is going to be released.
In a recent interview Mozilla's CEO, John Lilly let slip that the mobile browser would hit handsets in unfinished form in just a couple of weeks.

Separate networks and not a very good information-getting experience for the user. The first thing is to bring Firefox to mobile devices. We’re working on that, and we’ll see some alphas in a few weeks.

With the G1's release a little over 2 weeks away, are Mozilla aiming for the Android launch window?

Even an early Alpha release would be cool, i still haven't played with Chrome yet. But it seems Mozilla are gonna try get their mobile version out as soon as they can.

I use Firefox everywhere: in office on Windows and at home on Linux (iceweasel, that is a debian-fork of Firefox)... I have tried Chrome, but at the moment I prefer the mozilla's browser, so this news make me VERY happy!!!

I was really pleased when i heard the announcement of Google's Chrome, purely on the basis that the competition will push Firefox even further in their browser developments.
Couple that with the recent announcements of Chrome for Mobile and now Firefox for Mobile, i can't wait to see how these two browsers evolve.
It's gonna be great for us
