New RC33 G1 Firmware Update Begins Rollout

It appears that a new G1 firmware update is currently being rolled out to T-Mobile users. The new update is RC33 and sadly is not the Cupcake update we've all been waiting for.

With only a handful of users so far having received the update, it is still not certain what new functionality (if any) and fixes the new RC33 update brings.

“To ensure a great experience with the T-Mobile G1 with Google, customers with these devices will receive an Over the Air (OTA) update to their devices between February 5 and February 15. This OTA will include new system enhancements such as the ability to save pictures or files to file by long-pressing an item, check for system updates, and use the Google Voice Search feature. The OTA will also fix a number of known issues. New G1 activations will receive the OTA up to three days after service has been activated.”

We'll keep you guys posted on how this new update progresses, keep an eye on our forums for the latest RC33 firmware discussion.

What about those of us that are using the G1 unlocked on another carrier? How can we get the update?

I'm sure a download link will be made available over the coming week or so, similar to how unlocked users managed to install the previous update.

Sry dude all over air update are exclusive to t-mobile updates to only way you may ever get the stuff we get in our updates is your a write it your self as an programs or someone makes it download in the market just like how you will never get 3g on a unlocked G1 that's a how tmoble and other providers get ppl to sign up with them. That's just how it is

None yet, although i was a little surprised to see the UK tech blogs jump all over this news as being applicable to them.

As with the previous update however we should hopefully see a similar update(RC 9?), a few weeks after the US rollout.

But again it is hard to predict given that we've only had one update so far - i'd like to believe that T-Mobile/Google have worked out a more organised rollout.

Am i missing something? I can't get my unlocked G1 update OTA?
hmmmm...but I recall that I got the R31 update OTA. I am in Hong Kong.

I suppose the update is from Google, not T-Mobile, Am I wrong?
