Keyboard glitch on my DroidX

Hello all,

I have been having an issue with my Droid X for a couple of weeks now. I have uninstalled all programs that I had installs prior to encountering this issue, retested, but have not been able to solve it. I am running Android 2.3.3 and am using the stock keyboard.

The issue is this; when entering text one or two (or a combination of) things may happen:

1. When I press the spacebar the keyboard locks up for a couple of seconds (the highlighted and enlarged spacebar symbol remains on the screen while the program momentarily hangs) and then the keyboard closes and I am kicked back out to the last activity. This means that I have to click back into the text area after pressing the spacebar every time.

2. The spacebar works, but characters do not appear while I am typing. When I press the back button I see that the characters were entered into the text area, they simply don't appear while I am typing.

It is usually a combination of these two issues. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I am now having this issue as well, would really like to know what it is and how to fix.

I fixed it by turning off predictive text.

Settings -> Language and Keyboard -> Multi-touch Keyboard -> Next Word Prediction (OFF)

I think I just saw something about Verizon working on an update to address this. I haven't experienced it myself, but I've been using Swype and Touchpad most of the time.
