Useless Droid?

Ok well I've loved droid's since the very first G1 and my contract's up and I bought a Motorola Droid from Craigslist and Verizon says first off I can't use the droid with their pre-paid service but second the droid was REPORTED LOST OR STOLEN. The person from craigslist will not say where he got it and now wont answer my phone calls, needless to say: VERIZON DEMANDS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS INFORMATION WHICH I CANNOT OBTAIN, WHAT CAN I DO?

If the person is local file a report with the local police or sheriffs office. They will likely take the device but you are stuck anyway because the device is locked from activation. At least you will get some justice because that is a felony he committed.

Hope that is also a lesson learned. If there are ANY red flags raised like that during a purchase of a device, just walk away no matter what the deal is. If it is in the least bit questionable, dont buy it unless they can produce an original receipt or call your carrier with them standing right there. But if they won't tell you how they got the device, walk away...just walk away.
