I know it's a CDMA device in the States, but a GSM version will be available to Telus and Rogers subscribers in Canada and compatible with AT&Ts 3G system. I'm seriously considering buying one online and having it shipped. I prefer to buy phones outright and not change my plan or loose my rollover minutes. I also like to avoid providers pre-installed crapware which is why my last three phones were purchased direct from the manufacturer. If anyone has experience with Telus and Rogers, do they muck up phones with non removeable junk like AT&T? Which would be better to deal with?

With both carriers you'll get the usual branding on the phone as well as in the OS, perhaps via a theme or wallpaper or something. And probably some bundled software.

Yes, that is my understanding from several tech sites that I read regularly.

Telus isn't GSM, its CDMA. They have HSPA for data but the underlying network for voice is CDMA. Only Verizon phones will work with Telus.

Only Rogers is GSM and HSPA

Edit: Well maybe a more correct answer is that it will work for HSPA but as soon as you are out of coverage it will try to switch to CDMA. So if you have a GSM phone the connection will die...
