Hello everyone!
I am new here but this will definately be an experience for me.. Hope you can help.
My very first "smartphone" was an iPhone 3g nearly two years ago. My wife and I jumped into the 3gs and since then we have been on a slow downward spiral into cellphone madness that just plain never ends.
Last week when the iPhone 4 was announced i was excited.
My two biggest reasons for drooling over other handsets were to be answered, the iPhone finally had a halfway decent battery and 720p video recording.
I even was lucky enough to grab a pre order from the applestore app on the day of mayhem.
But since then the lust has worn off and I've realized that no matter how awesome the tech specs i cannot use 3g on the "world famous las Vegas strip" where I work every day, and that almost 60% if not more of all my voice calls are TERRIBLE if they do not end (or start for that matter) with "call failed."
heck, even as I sit here, perhaps 1/4 mile from a cellular tower I still watch my phone go from full bars, no bars, searching, no service randomly. And this is in my condo in a highly urbanized American city (las Vegas)
enough though of the comaining. The solution is that in august of this year I am indeed free. I can go where I want.
So where do I go?
Specifically I need a phone to hit the internet as I use my bowser A LOT and this kills the iPhone.
I also need good battery life for music playback.
I want to be able to record 720p video and take actual nice photos as I am a photographer and often use the phone for creative photography.
I talk maybe 700 minutes or less a month but I like it if I wasn't destroying my battery in 2 hours of use (I go through 10-15% of battery commuting to work as it is now) and needing to carry a charger around all the time.
I'd also like a phone that has a good network so I hear tmobile is out of the question as Vegas is iffy in many areas.
Oh, I'm also worried about my ability to be able to upgrade firmware. I've read some carriers or devices you can't go past android 2.1 or something like that? I do want to be able to update between the 2 years I have this thing before upgrading...
Anyhow, no this is not an iPhone fanboy trolling. I adore my iPhone and I'll miss it a great deal but it's only as good as the network and AT&T sucks.
Thanks for any sort of direction.
