Thanks guys for getting worked up about the design. It's just a concept I made on photoshop for the powers that be in HTC to consider. Anyway the G2 (who knows what it will look like) is supposed to be out in around mid-2009. Also between the G1 and G2 many other good Android phones are supposed to be released.

Hey, i was looking for some input on a dilemma of mine. I recently broke my phone sledding behing my jeep, and am looking to get a new one, is waiting the six months, or whatever it is, for the G2 worth it? Or should i just get the G1 now, in which case i have no chance at getting the G2.

There's a rumor about an actual G2 scheduled for a January 26 release. So I'd definitely wait...

The Boygenius Report is now saying their tipster is saying it was pushed to April for software issues.
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/...rmation-maybe/

Here’s what their tipster had to say:

The product specs on the T-Mobile G2 that CellPhoneSignal ran weren’t actually all that far off, just the date was completely wrong.
The device is a full touch device and there is no physical QWERTY keyboard.
There is still a trackball at the bottom.
The launch was delayed from late February to April due to software issues.
We’ve been informed this device will actually launch on another global carrier besides T-Mobile as well, though they didn’t say who, and they said that the G1, G2, G3, etc., names are trademarks of T-Mobile and the other carrier would have a different product name for the device other than G2.
There is supposedly (oh, god) a G3 coming not that far after the G2 but our tipster didn’t see the G3.

Nice work. Though HTC should put a 4.8" 800x480 screen on there, and a hard drive, and use the Texas Instruments Cortex processor which is the most powerful and the best embedded ARM processor.

The best Android device would be this:

I don't think making smaller screens with smaller resolutions make any sence. On top of that the Archos 5G is powerful enough to playback HD 720p videos, it plays all codecs, it can have up to 500GB of hard disk storage for the slightly thicker 2.5" hard drive model, it has HDMI output, it can encode video like a Tivo at VGA resolutions. It loads websites faster then the iphone and HTC G1 processor, it displays 3x more pixels on the screen thus no horizontal scrolling required.

Charbax,great idea,man!
I live in India.I can spend just $300-400 on a phone.I pray these type of phones should be within my budget.
Knight, the phone looks gorgeous. They should hire you to design the next G phones.

Why so many buttons? It really only needs three. One for the Menu, one for Answer, and one for Hangup. Home is basically the same as Menu, or they could be used interchangeably.

Something like this, button wise? (It's not pretty since I don't have Photoshop, but you can see the layout of the buttons)

The back button could be added between the two call buttons and the call buttons would probably look better flush with the casing, rather than round, but I don't have enough skill to do it.

And the background was because I was bored. :P
