Yeah. Jobs mentions that they "patented the hell out of it" in the iPhone press conference. But I guess it ends this year, and that many others found diff ways of providing multitouch.

We need to wait untill next year to see a true iPhone competitor.Now,we can run Google Earth in it without any Tegra.

Yeah but it's using Open GL 1.0 and is a bit choppy. It also lacks the dizillion overlays on the desktop version. But it's impressive, nonetheless. But very disappointing that Google released it for the iPhone first. It's like they already gave up on the G1.

It's like killing a child in its infancy.They released Google Earth only for iphone coz the hardware of G1 is inferior to it.Ubuntu or Linux are open source but not widely used why is it so? And why device manufacturers give more preference to closed Operating Softwares?

The hardware for the iPhone is almost identical to that of the G1. The reason was because they had more developing going on for the iPhone. Remember, Android is a company "bought" by Google.
