Android on Phones release before G1

I have a wonderful pierce of hardware. it has Thee Camera, Thee Video recorder, HSDPA which is a must in South Africa and a lot more. The only only thing that a DETEST about this pierce of Hardware is the software. It was written by an illiterate from LG. LG KU990 What I am wondering is whether you would be able to replace the software with Android.

I did some searching around and all i can find is a similar question posted on the google groups from a guy in paris here:

Sometime in the next few months the Android source code will be made available (according to the android timeline),

Once that happens and the source is freely available, i expect a lot of installer guides/hacks/ports will be made available for various handsets.
