IPhone defection?

Hi all,
I'm new to forum posting, so please excuse any bad ettiquete

I'm contemplating turning my back on iPhone in favour of Android, but I'm unsure of a few things and wonder if anyone can share their experiences/advice?

I'm on O2 in the UK, but not an iPhone tarrif. It's a standard tarrif with the Data Bolt-on.

I'm looking at Android phones on eBay and see a lot from China/Hong King etc (such as the Sciphone G2). Do they work in the UK?

What's the score with APN settings that seems to be mentioned in many of the smallprint of Android phones on eBay?

Is eBay the best way to go to get one yet keep my O2 Sim etc (damn contracts )?

Any help, advice about using an Android phone in UK on O2, where to source one etc etc all welcome

Can't help you with O2, but I'm in the UK using a G1 with T-Mobile on a pay as you go SIM - was a no brainer to get going, no APN's to set up or anything, just added credit and it worked. I use a 5 day unlimited data pass for £2.50 for the 5 days. I have to keep reactivating this every 5 days via a simple text msg.

I'm only here in the UK temporarily, so this works for me. Cheap.

All functionality works fine.
