I've been trying to get some answer about this on Twitter but no luck.

Regarding internal memory, HTC Hero vs Samsung Galaxy. If I understand it correctly, the Hero has 512MB and the Galaxy has 8GB. Correct?

So without playing around with the phone and "rooting" it, you're unable to save and run Apps on the SD card. Correct?

Assuming both the above are correct, on the Hero, with 512MB internal storage, some of which will be taken up by the Android O/S and Sense UI, how much space will there be for apps? I don't know how big the apps are (file size).

Surprised they didn't boost the memory...

Hope someone can help. Ta

I know what you mean. I don't have an android phone (yet) but it's odd that they didn't increase the internal memory of the Hero. It may be possible for apps to be easily saved on a memory card on this phone and they just haven't told us yet.

I believe there's an android app called "appmanager" which enables you to install non-protected apps on the microSD card. That'll leave you more space on the internal storage.

Yeah, as I was told a couple of days ago, the only way to install apps on the SD is to root the phone.

Yeah it's a hack that gives you access to the ROOT so you can play about a bit and do things like installing apps on the SD card...

I'm sure someone far more experienced with Android would be able to explain better...
