Ever since I updated my g1 to cupcake via a standard OTA update;
  • Every entry in my call history is unknown.
  • If I call a number in my phone book then go into my call history, even the number that I just called which is in my phone book says "unknown"
  • All incomming calls I receieve come up on my screen as Unknown, even if the number is in my phonebook and not witheld

Has anyone ever experienced this before or know a fix for this?

Thanks in Advance

Well, a few days ago I also started to get this I'm guessing its the same reason why tmobile stopped the updates. But the only way I found to fix this was to reset the phone to default. Message me on mastershino@aim.com if you don't know how to. Ill post instructions later when I get home

Yes, I have the very same problem, spoke to my service provider and they explained that it's a software error. I think this started happening after the recent software update which was around 3weeks ago.

I am going to make arrangements with my SP to replace the handset if I don’t find a way to resolve it.

This has happened to me to. I noticed one very peculiar thing that's happening as well:

When I hang up an outgoing call, I can see my contact's name go in the Call Log, and then suddenly switch to "Unknown"! It's as if the phone is quickly "forgetting" who I have talked to.

Anyone found a better solution than resetting factory defaults? I can't bear the thought of losing everything off my phone...

Thanks for your help guys!

I am having the same problem. All calls I make are fine, but I only receive from "Unknown"

So, if I want to keep cupcake, there is no way to fix this? No app that can circumvent it (keeping in mind I am in Australia)?

I had to finally do a factory reset. I got no help from anyone as to why it was happening. FYI, after the factory reset everything works correctly again. You will still have the Cupcake update, but you will have to re-download all your apps. Luckily the system knows that you've already paid for them and the new downloads are free.

So, after Reinstalling Cupcake (post Factory Default Reset), everything works fine?

Yeah, everything works fine after a factory reset. Except you don't need to reinstall Cupcake, since it's a system update, not a piece of standalone software.

Good luck!

Please go here:

and star the issue, hopefully someone from google will take a look if it gets enough stars!

Cheers!
