Has anyone found a good quality charging dock for the G1 that would fulfill the following requirements:
  • Can plug into AC outlet.
  • Allows the G1 to sit vertically, allowing me to view the screen and navigate the phone while at my desk.
  • Includes a 3.5mm headphone jack output, so I can listen to music and charge the phone at the same time.
The last requirement is especially important because I want to use a dock like this while at work. Since the battery life isn't the best, I'd like to have the phone sitting in a charging dock while I listen to music, podcasts, etc. Normally I plan to listen to audio files I've downloaded from my computer at home, but I may also consider listening to live audio while logged in to an open wi-fi network (e.g. last.fm).

If you've got one, could you let me know the brand and model, as well as where you purchased it? Thanks!

It looks like there aren't any viable solutions for a charging dock with audio output at this time, so I've come up with an alternate solution. I bought a Fosmon charging dock, and I plan to pair my G1 with the Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth headphones. Once I receive the Cupcake update (hopefully really soon) with stereo Bluetooth support, I'll let you know how it works.

I've been using a Fosmon charging dock and Motorola S9-HD headset for a couple of days now. It seems to work pretty well, and I have more mobility at my desk without headphone wires. It wasn't what I had originally planned and costs a bit more, but I think it's going to be a worthy option.

I bought one of these:

http://www.handhelditems.com/google-...t-p-29218.html

But I probably wouldn't recommend it due to:
1) no audio out (I was considering modding it...)
2) sometimes hard to insert G1 - doesn't slot in all that easily
3) G1 stands almost vertical, making it hard to see screen
4) spare battery doesn't charge off USB - only if plugpack is plugged in.

All a bit disappointing really...

Things to look out for anyways.
