Is there anyway to use the volume button on the side of the phone and switch between music / ringer volume etcetera? It seems to only control music, if I am listening to music, and at other times seems to control things somewhat randomly. What am I missing here? This so far is the only thing I've had trouble with on this phone.

When you are playing music (or watching media) it controls the volume, if you pause the music or exit music app then it controls the ringer volume. Don't think there is any way around it apart from going to your home screen adjust ringer volume then going in to your media app and adjusting volume that way.
You can always set up the levels in your settings and leave them alone.
I do see what you mean though.

Thanks, yeah its a little weird. I'm not a developer, but somebody should make and app that when you push the volume button and the level comes on screen, you could touch the screen left or right to scroll through the different levels. Or you could hold down the button to call up a mixer. The way it is seems a little funky. I found a volume app in the market, but its not very useful, since its not integrated with the button.

Over all though, I love this phone. I was going to buy a little netbook, but its pretty much unneeded at this point, since the g1 does pretty much everything one of those netbooks can do.
