Cupcake is not an update, it is the name of a development branch that has been merged into the main development trunk. It contains new features, many of which have not been fully tested, or had the code changes reviewed. A lot of the features are currently incompatible with the G1 as the firmware needs updates, which is currently pending. Device drivers need updating, code needs testing, more changes need merging and most important T-Mobile needs to decide what features from cupcake we get if any.
I hate to burst bubbles, but this is the reality of the situation.

youre right, but people know the new update by the name cupcake. i recently called tmobile about a problem i was having and then i happen to ask about the update and he ask me "which one? cupcake?" so when people ask for the cupcake update, they are right, and when you explain that cupcake is a new development branch, you're right. All that matters is that the new update, whether you call it cupcake or unicorn, is gonna be awesome!

Don't take me the wrong way when I say this, but it is going to take a holy act of congress if we see the update before march or so.
I am waiting on it simply for the fact of hoping it will include saving images from mms msgs.
Until next time, this is AndroidSamurai signing off....
