A company called Aardvark are currently working on a Microsoft Exchange client for Android.

Details are a little scarce, but you can sign up for enrollment into their beta program over on their website HERE

The most popular messaging platform will soon be available on the Google Android OS and T-Mobile G1.Public launch begins Q1 of 2009 and our limited beta will commence shortly.
I don't use Exchange, but i know a lot of people have been wondering about this for a while, so it might be just what they're looking for

This is the biggest hurdle that I'm having to cross to switching from my Moto-Q phone to a G1 phone. I currently use a Moto-Q phone on the Verizon network, and my company requires me to use MS Exchange for email and calendar access/syncing. Since the G1 phone doesn't have MS Exchange support, I really can't use it for business purposes. I'm sure lots of other users are in the same boat, so hopefully Google or another 3rd party will fix this situation.

Keep in mind that there are ways to get Exchange email on the G1 today though they are not as elegant as some of the more fully integrated solutions from BB and others.

I'm in the same situation as you although I am coming off a BB and an iPhone 3G. I use both the Exchange Webmail client in the Browser for corporate email as well as have my email forwarded to a folder in my Gmail account. There are also POP and IMAP solutions if your corporate IS supports either of those protocols.

All of these have issues and I'm sure we will see a solution soon from the Android development community but in the short-term, I'm finding I can get by.

With the android emulator I was able to successfully access my corporate email account using the web browser through Outlook Web Access (OWA), however, I really want a native application that will notify me when new emails come in.

I did find a desktop PC application called "eDuo" that runs on a PC and will pulldown email from the Inbox of a MS Exchange account and forward it to a defined IMAP mail account. I tested this with my corp account and it did seem to work (although the log file it generates had lots of error messages). The only problem, is that it's a one-way street (Exchange -> IMAP). I can't delete emails on the G1 phone and have them be deleted on MS Exchange server. I also can't respond to emails and have them sent through the Exchange server email system. I've grown so accustomed to using my mobile phone for business email that it's hard to give it up.

I just re-activated my Blackberry today with only the data plan so I could get email messages the way they were intended to be delivered. Let's hope that Aardvaark or someone like that comes through soon so I don't have to carry two phones around with me for too much longer.

Aardvaark, if successful with this Android app, could be a key variable for the success of the G1 let alone Android!

CompanionLink have also released an Outlook -> Android syncing application:

I stopped using Outlook a while back so can't really vouch for how effective it is. Still it's good to see companies stepping up to solve this issue.

Hi All... new to the group! Any news on the outlook exchange issue. I have ordered two phones (family plan) and what I need most is to be able to sync with my work email/contacts... I see a note about version 1.2.0 of Touchdown... is there a link?
Thanks..

Wayne
