Remove duplicates from call log

Is there an app (or better, a way within Android) to prevent the same contact from showing the the call log multiple times?

I talk mainly to the same few people, with a few others scattered between, and it would be nice if I had the option to see each caller (and outgoing call destination) only once in the call log. (Maybe have the call times viewable if I open the contact's entry in the call log.)

Not sure how much this helps, but HTC sense does a fantastic job with handling the call log and dialing contacts with this particular scenario! What kind of phone do you have?

It's a T-Mobile MyTouch.

On my old Blackberry, making calls from the call log was easy because each number was only listed once (saved space and no duplicates) so I could find any number quickly, even if it had been a week since the previous call to/from that number. I almost never had to use the contact list because all of my commonly called numbers were so easily accessible in the call log.
