Hi All,

My other half needs a new smartphone, and it's down to Android (not sure which yet) or the Palm Pre.
Absolutely critical for her is decent Outlook support. I'm not going WinMo as I hateses it.
What she needs is:

push email
calendar
contacts
notes
tasks

I'm willing to rent her an Exchange Server mailbox to accomplish this - gmail might work for mail/calendar/contacts - but without something like Nitrodesk Touchdown I'm not going to get Tasks support, which she's utterly reliant on in running her small business.

Anyone used Touchdown? Does it integrate and feel native? Do you get notifications when tasks/calendar events/new mails are due or arrive, regardless of whether touchdown's running on screen?

Basically, is it as good as WinMo's exchange server support - would really appreciate any feedback from power users. Which ever handset I recommend, she'll probably be tied to it for at least 18 months on contract, so I need to get it right.

@landwomble,
Note that Echange activesync does not support Notes. (and so neither does touchdown).

We do have an experimental notes sync solution here - currently syncs over USB bidirectionally (http://groups.google.com/group/nitro...-notes-syncing), currently free.

Smashing, thanks. Presumably if she wantsfulk integration of tasks/contacts/mail (ie click a contact to email them, rather than copy and pasting between apps) then you just ignore androids built in apps and use touchdown? Do you get full notifications etc?

Cheers

Yes thats right. You can even open the compose window and start typing in a contacts name and it will filter the contacts with the prefix you type in and show suggestions.
THe next version will extend suggestions to parties who may not be in your contacts, but those who may have been recipients of your recently opened emails..
