I noticed that the android does not have a virtual keyboard, Now I am not sure if it would really help that much, but for short txt messages or stuff like that I would be thinking it would be nice to have the option. Do you guys think this would someday be available?

I will DEFINITELY spring for it, as long as it is not overpriced.
I think $40-$50 would be the highest I feel comfortable with, as long as it comes with lifetime updates/patches, etc.

The keyboard mentioned here looks ok, but take a look at the screenshots of an upcoming ROM update, the keyboard to be included with Android looks perfect -- keys look quite practical: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432661

Please be aware that the link you reference is NOT AN UPCOMING ROM UPDATE!
Even the title of the thread gave that away: Preview of the G1-Dream ROM

The members of xda-developers are a bunch of skilled programmers and enthusiasts who (in their own words) "reverse-engineered" popular HTC phones to do what they want with their phones by hacking, modding, etc.

Further in the thread they link to the Android SDK 1.0 with instructions to run or emulate Android on a HTC phone.

More information here: http://xda-developers.com/

I think you are mistaken. The particular user who started that thread, udK, somehow always manages to grab release ROM's before they are released. He then modifies them and releases his own cooked ROM's. His ROM's are widely used, though not by me. I prefer to stick to the release prior to 'cooking'.

Once he gets a ROM, he posts it -- and later posts his cooked version. He posted the HTC Touch Cruise official release of WM6.1 about a month before HTC did. First he posted the English version; then Russian, Spanish and German versions. I have a Touch Cruise and downloaded his English verson, and the one from the HTC site -- same file name, same file size. I had installed his first upload of the untouched ROM and there's no reason to re-flash, it's the same.

What I believe he has just posted is the next version of the G1 ROM and he will later post a cooked version. The 'preview' isn't what we're getting, it's what we're getting next. It wouldn't surprise me if T-Mobile & HTC don't already have a ROM on the way, the initial release has a 'rushed' feel, like the on-screen keyboard not quite being quite ready on time. I could be mistaken about all this, but the user who started that thread is a legit guru

I believe the posts you referenced were regarding somehow using the G1 ROM on other devices, and what tools might help.
