Looking for an SMS backup app

I have a ton of messages in my inbox, and certain threads have thousands of messages in them, to the point where my messaging is slow and freezes up. I'm looking for a good application where I can save all the messages on my phone onto my computer, so I can delete all the messages on my phone without losing them forever. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I haven't got any real ideas to help although i am interested in the whole storage question-Could you somehow upload your data to a web based storage facility like one does for google pictures and then download back to your phone?
