I am seeing very strange behavior with the built-in Email (not Gmail) app. I thought this was due to a fairly large inbox, but now I believe at least two of the symptoms are unrelated to inbox size.
I have several POP accounts at comcast.net, my ISP. One of these gets a lot of email and tends to have a large inbox. In the course of trying to resolve my email problems I have:
- reduced the size of the inbox from around 2,000 messages to (currently) 686 messages.
- deleted and recreated the account definition several times (which deletes all traces of the messages on the G1, as I understand it).
Two problems that I feel are bugs:
1) Email gives me the "new mail" beep and notification icon when I do not, in fact, have new mail. This happens after I have deleted and recreated the account. I observe that in the Your Accounts list, where it shows the total number of messages, this number slowly creeps up, a few messages at a time, over many hours. Regardless of whether I have new mail, each time the app sees old mail it has not seen before (and increments the total) it beeps and displays the icon.
2) The message total continues to increment beyond the actual size of the mailbox. At the moment it reads 1356 and I still have only 686 messages.
Has anyone seen this? Any ideas?
Thank you
