Is there a better calendar application out there for the android platform? Something a little more configurable? (like setting the default view to month)

I am coming from using Pocket informant on an windows mobile phone (which allows pretty much everything to be customized), and I loved so many things about it that the calendar in android just falls very short of.
One of my favorite things in Pocket Informant was the fact that all the appointments were written within the day cells in the month view.

Maybe I'm asking for too much...

Any thoughts?

i with you on the poor quality of the calendar. the good news is that the "cupcake" 1.5 version of the software is reported to have a few significant improvements in various things but importantly the calendar app

I agree. I went from the basic $29.95 Nokia I got with my T-Mobil contract to the G1 specifically so I could automatically sync my phone calendar with my Gmail calendar. The cheap phone allowed me to schedule client appointments at x-week intervals; i.e., I could choose "repeat" and "weekly" and then numerically choose how many weeks, such as 1, 2, or 9. The fancy G1 will not do it, according to the T-Mobil tech I spent an hour with on the phone after going to a local T-Mobil store and having them connect me up.
I am only a lowly end user, so my question is when will all these developers add a feature that my old $29.95 phone came with? Thanks!

your G1 does allow you to set up repeat episodes (it is at the bottom of the "new event dialogue") altho not complex repeats. as i mentioned tho' the cupcake is reported to have further improvements in the overall stability of the calendar app and synch.

I agree with both. My issue is that i am unable to see the full month and the different calendars with different colour codes like you can on a internet browser.
