Hi, im not REALLY a dev., but Id like to have root access on my phone...ive read about how to get root, and im pretty sure i could do it without messing up my phone...i know its not quite the same, but i have a psp and have it unlocked so i have root access, and can do all kinds of kool things a regular PSP cant do...my question is, if i do what it takes to get root access on my phone (downgrading, flashing files, upgrading to customized version..), is it gonna screw me over? I mean is it gonna void my phone's warranty or anything? Im pretty sure i can do it without bricking it, it seems pretty simple...im not really worried about breaking it as much as voiding my warranty. Also, i dont know what Id do with root access...i mean, I do, id wanna change the UI and stuff to make it look all custom, i have some ideas for things i wanna do, but i dont wanna go through all the trouble of getting root access and then not be able to use it for what i thought i could....i dont wanna do all that work for nothin...so is it really worth it for me to try to root my phone, or would it be a waste of my time? Im not totally illiterate, i know a lot about computers and how to make stuff do what i want it to do...but i dont wanna try to do something thats gonna void my warranty if i cant do anything practical with it afterwards...its easy to mess with my PSP cuz if i brick it i can just recover it and start over, so i dont really need any kinda warranty cuz i can always service it myslef, but im afraid this wont be the case with my G1, and i dont wanna mess it up and then not have any warranty to fix it and be out an awesome state-of-the-art phone...any advice?
