Is there an app that will let you scan a business card and then save the details for you? If not, would that be hard to build? I always seem to find a lot of business cards here and there that I have collected and I wish I had a way of just scanning them into my computer to save time. Is this possible?

Edited to say you could scan it the same you can scan the ID tags of goods at a store to compare them to other stores prices.

if you go to the android app market click on the applications tab, then go to communication. There is a app called ''Contact Photo Filer'' I havent used it. As i never seem to get business cards! But the write up seems to do what your asking. I think!!!

No this doesn't appear to be doing the same thing.

What he is asking for is something like www.scanr.com (but that is a paid ASP webapp).

What Contact Photo Filer does is allows you to store a photo of the persons business card with their contact entry (at least from the way the page reads....it's a rpetty poor website with no screen shots etc.

Hey I tried looking for that CamCard program and couldn't find it just a bunch of stuff that didn't do OCR or people said didn't integrate well with contacts built-in to the phone or whatever, then found a comment that Google Goggles does this, I already had it just gave it a shot with three random business cards. Does a good job of capturing the textual information and allows you to add it right to your contacts (even with an old dirty card and design heavy cards) doesn't get logos stored which would be nice as a quick reminder (or even a small thumb of the card might help) but for free it's definitely sweet and saves me 100+ bucks a trip to the store and an extra device, gotta say even as a developer I am pretty amazed at what a device I got for 100 bucks can do (with the internet behind it, which of course is where the real cost is at).

Google Goggles is awesome as an OCR for importing the info on (one side of) a business card and creating a new contact with one to two clicks.
