Not sure if this has been discussed yet here but is anybody else having trouble emptying their email trash bin? I delete the emails and they go to the trash folder. When i delete them from the trash folder they pop right back up after being deleted for a few seconds.

Bad news guys, this is a bug
T-Mobile reps are advising users to delete their email account, and set it up again. But some users are still reporting the same issues.
I guess it's another future update away from getting fixed.

I finally figured out the POP3 Trash problem. If you’re like me you also check and reply to your email on a pc somewhere as well. Just set your phone so that it doesn’t delete the server’s copy of the email. All you have to do is never delete an email out of your inbox on your G1. When you check email on your pc, it will remove the email from your pop3 account and the next time you check email on your G1 it will simply disapear from your inbox due to the fact that your G1 POP3 inbox only shows the current contents of your POP3 email account. This eliminates the trash folder on your G1 completely because it has no contents and never starts to begin with. If you already have a bunch of email in your trash folder, just delete your account as others have stated before and put it back in. This works like a charm for me. I hope it does for everyone else as well.

This is a SERIOUS oversight! Thank you ptyler3 for posting a workaround. It worked for me, but I hate the idea of not being able to delete email from my phone, (and yes, my phone's POP account is set up NOT to delete from the server). I am a member of several graphics-oriented lists and so get a lot of heavy email every day, which would quickly consume my Samsung Moment's resources. If Google doesn't come up with a fix for this, I'll have to switch to a different OS...

Ptyler3. I tried that and it does work. However, if you then send mail from your phone, it is impossible to get rid of the mails in your sent mail folder... unless of course you delete them.... which sends them to the Trash folder, which as we've already found, can only be emptied by deleting the account. I tried logging in to GMail to delete my sent items there, but that doesn't delete them from my phone. I guess we have to pressure Android into making fix for this.

If you go into the trash folder and don't select any message to delete and THEN hit menu delete, you'll see chi boxes appear to right of each msg. You can then use menu and select all to clear the folder.

I use mobile me. It shows 2 deleted folders, one for computer-accessed mail and one for mail accessed from my phone. I delete all my messages using my computer. Then on my Droid's email app, I go Menu - Accounts. I then long-press my account, which reveals another menu. I select "refresh", and then my phone syncs with my pop3 mailbox, deleting the messages from my phone in the process.
Perhaps this may be useful for some of you.
