G1 with out a Cell Phone Providor.

i want to buy the G1, but i dont use t-Mobile. so i was wandering if i bought one and if possibly connect it to my wireless internet i could still buy apps and surf the internet and what not, all but the cell phone part?

You can always unlock the handset so that it will work with your current sim card. I'd definitely advise you add an unlimited internet/data package onto your current provider though
