Hi all,

This is my first post and im totally new to the android thing! Got my G1 2 days ago and so far so good im liking it, i have a question though as its starting to bug me now-

Id like to add my msn email address so its synced with my email..so i go through the normal procedure..

-home
-menu
-email
-press 'next'
-i enter my email address
-i enter my password
-press 'next'
-it comes up with a little message about plus accounts or something...?
-i press 'ok'
-it then displays the screen '
checking incoming server settings
-screen then pops up saying 'setup could not finish' username or PW incorrect. '
-it then gives me the choice to edit details

The thing is i have tried it about 10 times and im 100% sure my email and PW are correct yet it doesnt work..?

Anyone know why? itd be much appreciated if you can help me.

I am from the uk if that makes any difference so i have a uk phone.

Thanks again.

Scott.

I think you have to pay for forwarding of @hotmail email addresses so would imagine its the same for all Microsoft based ones???

Yeah, you need a pay account with hotmail to get this functionality. This is a limitation on the part of hotmail and not the G1 or Android.

you need to buy hotmail plus which allows pop3/imap4 access to your hotmail account. not sure how much it costs but pretty sure its a yearly charge

Like others have said you need Hotmail plus, an expensive cost for the benefits you get in return. Now, according to the Hotmail website, this functionality will be rolled out to "normal" Hotmail users in due course (once they have gleaned enough cash out of the poor suckers who sign up for the plus account and feel they cant get any more for it)

Typical Micro$oft strategies

i guess it only a matter of time that google roll out an msn type messenger application to rival microsoft. i know you can chat to people within the email app but i think they need an app like yahoo and microsoft

If you don't like that concept, you definitely will not like what they are proposing next, pay per use hardware. That's right, if you want to make use of the hardware in your machine, Microsoft have found a way to charge you for using it!

I think that has other applications. Such as in an internet cafe or a greedy university who charges their students for use of the hardware. I wouldn't see Microsoft moving this to corporations or end users. This would just give people more incentive to move to Unix/Linux based operating systems.
