Windows XP does not recognize G1 with RC30

I have tried everything and my computer still does not recognize the G1. I do not get the option for use mass storage device under settings/SD Card storage and I dont get a USB icon on the left and I dont get a notification asking me to mount or not. What am I doing wrong. I have RC30. HELP....
and I am the administrator.

Mine connects fine. If you were upgrading from a really old version such as RC19, a new feature was added that requires you to select "Mount" or "Do not mount" from the notifications area when you connect your phone to the PC.

I have NO IDEA how to get my computer to recognize my g1 either. I actually have the "mount notification" on my phone. I touch this... then touch "mount" and nothing happens. it is not in my windows explorer or anything. my system does not recognize it. although I do get the new USB device plug in sound when I plug it in.
