I got my G1 a couple of days ago, upgrading from a Wing.
So far I am not really impressed with the G1, so far:
1. Does not automatically show missed calls.
2. Taking photos is a pain, takes a long time after you press button to actually snap a picture.
3. Voice calling does not recognize anything.
4. No speed dial.
5. No MS applications (word,excel)

Am I missing something or are these serious draw backs?

You can use the AnyCut app to put a shortcut for the person on your desktop to call someone...instead of having to go through the whole contact menu. thats pretty useful. as for the camera...yeah it sucks but whatever I have an SLR for taking pictures so not to worried. It will show you missed calls in the upper left hand corner. A smal red icon will appear, i think its a phone or something but if you click on the drop down menu at the top when that appears it will show you what call you missed. The phone is still new so im going to give it time. I suspect their is a lot more to come from this phone. so far i give it an 8 out of 10 with room for improvement. Phone works great.

um. To try and help.

1. A missed call is shown like email and txt/sms notifications in the top left corner.
2. Phone cameras a generally c**p. The problem is the autofocus motor. Only going to get round that with a infinity focusing lens but then people would not like that either!!
3.Dont get that in the uk so cant comment!! lol!!!
4. Use the Any Cut app and you can place direct dials on the home screens.
5. Will probably be a app soon.

Not really draw backs. Just the joy of using a brand new operating system that which we are all testing. It can only get better???

I seem to recall my G1 indicating when I had missed calls, though I may be wrong. I do know that the voice dialing worked way better than I expected.
