Yeah, get your feet wet with the galaxy. Hopefully Samsung will release 2.2 soon for that series of phones and it will truly convince you that Android is the way to go. Once you get your phone please post on here and let us know how you like it.

thanks guys, it's being released for my carrier sometime in September, so i'll definetly let you know how I like android + the phone itself :P By the way, speaking of froyo for the Galaxy S, when Samsung Officially releases 2.2 froyo for the Galaxy S, will I have to wait for my Carrier to release it to download, or will it be downloadable straight as soon as Samsung Releases it?

Technically your carrier has the ultimate say so on when updates get released to the masses. Bit once the firmware is out, you can root your phone and download an unofficial built of 2.2. I think option 2 would be best since carriers may wait months to release firmware updates. That was my case with tgr Nexus One, I downloaded the unofficial built about 2 months before T-Mobile decided to push it out. If you do manually update your device, it will not hinder your phones ability to get the official builts.

The Droid X is a good phone but for someone who is just getting into Android I would much rather recommend a device with "Vanilla" Android, meaning no "skin" or overlays such as TouchWiz, MotoBlur, or Sense. Try Android for what it really is with its stock interface and if you like it, then try some skinned versions.

I think it depends how much power you need. The Nexus One is pretty incredible, couldn't ask for more myself, but like computers, there will always be nice technologies around the corner!

I hate to be a fly in the ointment but the Samsung Galaxy does not have flash for the camera, a real deal breaker as far as I am concerned. I am a big fan of HTC Sense, I would therefore recommend the HTC Desire HD (this is an updated version of the HTC Evo 4G - that works on our 3G networks in the UK). If your in the States then I suppose the alternative is the Evo - depends on how well your 4G coverage is. I wouldn't go for the Galaxy, why put in a camera at all if you don't have a flash?

I think Galaxy S is a good choice, positive reviews so far.
