New to the site so not sure if this has already been discussed or whether this is even the right place to ask for help but here goes anyway...

Just recently purchased a bluetooth headset (Motorola HT820)

I can make and receive phone calls but can't seem to figure out how to listen to my MP3s using bluetooth .. is this even an option right now?

The G1 doesn't support the A2DP profile so you cannot listen to music over bluetooth. At least not yet. I know the chipset it uses can supports it so they could provide this in a future software update but I have no idea if this is planned or not.

A2DP firmware update and OBEX access is needed, but still no word on when this'll happen.

Technically, the G1 hardware does support stereo bluetooth (A2DP), but currently Android itself has the feature disabled. This was supposedly due to time constraints and would be fixed at some unknown point in the future. But you're right, it is a bit disingenuous of T-Mobile to sell those as accessories when you won't be able to use them yet.

Try this. Maybe someone can develop an app for it.

Call your G1 with another phone. After you answer, play a video or mp3 and turn the bluetooth headset on. You should hear the audio through the headset. There should be a way to do this without burning up your minutes.
