*~/I Don’t have an “App for That”…../

I use Outlook.

I need to sync Outlook with my HTC EVO.

I don't want all my Contacts "in" the Google database, (and I hope that anyone that has my contact information doesn't put it "in" the Google database either).

HTC has a program that will "sort-of" sync my Contacts.

I love my white EVO(!)...but will be selling it on Ebay and go back to a Windows based model soon if I have to turn my life upside down to be able to use my Contacts, E-mail, & Mail Folders!

I don't mind trouble-shooting computer issues....but things have really gotten out of hand.

This is a "No-Brainer". Most of the people that use Outlook for business will find out (if they don't already know) that when syncing with Google.....all their Contact information is put on the Google servers....and will either be barred from using it, or make an educated decision not to use an Android phone if they can?t use access their database(!).

I need a way to safely sync a program (that at least mimics Outlook) on my Android based phone. %/
~~PLEASE~~~!

I've had my HTC Incredible for a couple of days. I knew in advance that an Outlook sync was not included, but I figured that the available third-party options would be good enough. "Good enough" is the right term. By using HTC Sync and/or Companion Link I will be able to muddle through, but my old WinMo phone's sync was seamless. With my current system I will have to remember to sync instead of the sync being automatic. Hey, Companion Link, why don't you have scheduling and automatic sync upon data change?

While I am on a rant, I heard that the battery life wasn't good. It is TERRIBLE. Admittedly I am playing with my new toy a lot, but half a day? Even with WiFi the GPS turned off. C'mon HTC.

And to make matters worse, I am in the habit of just plugging my phone into the USB port overnight and letting my phone sync and charge. The charging is so bad from the USB port that it will not restore a mostly depleted battery overnight.

Having said all that, the name "Incredible" is really on the money. I LOVE this phone!

All my calendar items now sync with Google Calendar. I can now sync my phone to my Google Calendar. I had to download the Google Calendar Sync which you can find on the internet, then it should work. Of course, this is just day one, but we'll see.
Of course Google Calendar Sync doesn't work with Outlook 2010! I had to buy gsync.

Hi, has anyone found a solution to the outlook phone number issue with the leading +1.
Outlook puts it there when you select the country and it seems to work just fine for anything overseas (like Germany +49). However anything within the US it will not send text messages to the contacts having the +1. It seems like the +1 is not an issue (to call) if you are in your home area code, however if you travel to a different part of the country the +1 and area code for the same contact will not get you through.

It seems like you have to change all your US phone numbers to drop the +1 in order to work everywhere and use the stored mobile number for texting.

That seems to be another one of these outlook sync issues...

Anyone had success with Mark/Space The Missing Sync? They claim wireless (bluetooth) sync solution. I sent some questions to them prior to purchase but have no response.

Just got an e-mail from Mark/Space in response to my questions. I have not purchased Missing Sync but here are the questions and their responses:

Hello

Answers are below:

1) Does Missing Sync post the contact info to the native Google contacts app?

Yes.

2) Does it copy all notes from the "notes" field of an Outlook 2007 contact?

Yes, 1500 characters.

3) Will I be able to choose each function I want to sync? Ie. just contacts or
contacts & notes?

Yes you can turn the plugins on or off and choose which data set you want to sync.

4) If I choose to sync Outlook notes, will it maintain the notes / subfolders
structure I have set up in Outlook?

Yes.

5) Will it sync these two Outlook functions directly from my stand alone
computer via Bluetooth? (I have a Dell Latitude D630 w/ bluetooth. I require
a business quality sync via BT or USB without sending data to a server or
cloud.)

PIM ( contacts/calendar) data is wifi/bluetooth sync and media is usb only.

Regards
Rex

Whatever you do, spare yourself from "The Missing Sync" Its extremely overcomplicated to setup and configure. Its cumbersome - not user friendly at all. Im a very technical person and I gave up 10 minutes into it. You also have to install other pieces of the applications that are free apps from Google Market to make it work.

@ cg5000 Was your experience with their recent bluetooth sync software? What other apps did you have to download? Just trying to determine if what they are offering now is what was a "fail" for you. I certainly don't need to buy another bad product. TIA

I just got my second Droid X (the first one was nice, but couldn't connect to the internet) and have been fighting with the CompanionLink software for over an hour. Now that I found this forum, I realize I shouldn't have wasted my time.

However, I saw gSyncit online and am wondering if anyone has used it and does it work.
