I sent an email via the contact form on their web page in my most understandable English. They wrote back:

 Enough said...

Anyway! Apparently, digitec.ch has the G1 in store since 10 days or something, I just recieved confirmation that the phone is ready to ship.

Thanks for all the insightful replys!

Apparently in Switzerland there is no branding nor SIM-locking whatsoever. You can use the G1 with any carrier available here including all prepaid options. I went with a low-data-intensity option of a high-coverage provider (swisscom.ch) for 2 years.

Solo, the phone would've cost 799.- CHF (= 656 $), with the rebate from the subscription it's 629.00 CHF (516.341 $).

Thanks again folks, you rock!

Hi everyone,

I purchased an unlocked G1 from eBay and got it to work perfectly on my French carrier 3G network (namely Bouygues Telecom), with my French SIM card and data plan. The phone came already registered with a fresh new Gmail account, and everything was working, including Gmail and Market.

Now I wanted to sign in with my existing Gmail account instead, so I performed a factory reset (since I've read it's the only way to sign out from Gmail on the G1). The problem is that I am now stuck in the Gmail activation dialogs, with the phone (obviously) complaining about not being able to connect to Google servers, and no way to get to the setup menus to configure wifi and/or APN settings.
What can I do ? Did I really sorta brick my G1 ?

Thanks in advance for your help !
