I'm a bit surprised to read this, but it seems that the Firefox team aren't currently working on developing the browser for the Android platform.

In a recent interview Mozilla's director of mobile engineering Christian Sejersen stated that the company is doing nothing for Android “now or in the near future.”

I understand that Apple's restrictions on iPhone software will make it difficult for Mozilla, but i thought that might push them in the direction of Android...

Sejersen mentioned that the current priority is to develop a Firefox Mobile Linux native version for the Nokia Internet Tablet platform, the WinMO and possibly Symbian.

Maybe because Google released Chrome, which competes with Firefox? And because prior to this, Google helped Mozilla out with coding FF?

I think when will be launch Mobile Mozilla (Fennec) for WM device and for Symbian then very soon will be available for Android OS.

Android is new OS in Mobile world. Then Mozilla put priority for WM Symbian OS.

It's still early days for the Android platform, it makes sense that Mozilla want to prioritize their mobile development for the largest userbase possible.

I hope so, because Firefox is the king of browsers
