Did Anyone else Expect More Developer Challenge Entries?

Google received 1,788 application entries for their developer challenge, i just thought with the amount of buzz on blogs and forums since the announcement i expected there to be much more entries submitted?

I must admit i didn't submit anything myself so im not 100% sure on how difficult it currently is to work with the Android SDK, but i did expect many iphone developers to submit some ported entries too.

I guess with only 1,788 other competitors the odds are pretty could for all who entered
