Removing Lock Screen?

I like how you can add the lock pattern, but if I have one in place, I have to go through the down-swipe lock screen, and then the lock pattern screen.

Is there any way to remove the down-swipe lock screen so I only have to deal with the pattern lock screen?

I hate the autolock feature of the phone....Drives me bananas...LOL
