When I try to use the Google maps and navigate, it has "Searching for GPS..." on the bottom of the screen and it never finds it. I've left it running for an hour outside, and it still never picks up the GPS signal. This is the second phone that I've gotten, because the people in the store couldn't figure it out on my first one. Any help?

This isnt ment to sound condescending. But do you have it enabled? (go to settings, security and location, enable gps satellites and make sure there is a tick next to it.)

Also what is the cloud cover and the weather like??? Gps works best when there is nothing between you and the satellite. Weather conditions can affect the reception.

Try another app like googles ''my tracks'' or ''Gps Status'' both available from the apps store. If they dont work then i think you might be unlucky and have had 2 dud gps units!

I forgot to put that I have double checked to be sure that it's enabled. The weather was pretty clear. I was also right next to a friend who has a Droid, and hers worked perfectly.

I've tried an app called Trapster that is supposed to locate you using the GPS signal, and that won't work either. It doesn't pick up my signal, so it shows me in CA!

Thanks for the suggestions, though!

I had the same problem after a while.
I had also problems with my GSM-SIMcard for the telephone itself, sometimes no net on the cellphone.
After replacement from this SIMcard, my GPS was again working very fast.
Maybe does the phone too much polling from the SIMcard, so that he has not enough time to serve the GPS?
Somebody the same experience or an explanation?

Have the same problem. Got a tech support rep who confessed that they are having an issue with all former Alltel customers with the Droid. It will not connect to the GPS. Even if you switch to a verizon plan (which i did), it will not work.
